The Five Minute Rule

4 out of 5 people who procrastinate find that working on this one piece of the puzzle solved the majority of procrastination problems! That piece of the puzzle…

Set a goal of doing whatever it is you would otherwise procrastinate, but only do it for five minutes.

If after five minutes it sucks so bad you want to stop, then just stop. HOWEVER... Most find that after doing something for just five minutes, it’s easy to continue until it’s done.

When I started writing this blog post, I thought I knew waht the five minute rule was but after a Google search I quickly discovered that I had it all wrong. What I thought was the five minute rule, was actually the two minute rule and so happens to be a pretty handy rule, too - so listen up!

If it takes less than two minutes, do it now.

It’s surprising how many little things we put off that can be accomplished in under two minutes. Doing a load of laundry, sending that logo file you promised yesterday, or taking out the trash. Check it off that to do list and free your mind of having to remember to do something so small, later.
